AI for the Holidays

HO HO HO! Well maybe not yet..Santa is still feverishly managing his legion of work elves to be able to make all the gifts he needs to deliver this year...I totally love this time of year! There are snacks being distributed without abandon in every department...red, white, and green painted donuts...people are chatting a bit more...work is a little more lax as both humans and AI work a little more lazier. Lol...

 

Yes, even AI has fallen to the lullaby that is Christmas!

Yes...you heard it here first! Well, technically you heard it here second...the link above reported it first! 😊 Long story short, there was a hypothesis that AI was getting demonstrably slower due to the holidays...and curious IT engineers doing what curious IT engineers do, they tested it!

 

Long story short, they ran the baseline requests with the current date and then they ran the same requests while using tokens to trick ChatGPT into thinking it was May...and it demonstrably was slower running the tests thinking it was December.

 

While I honestly believe the test was flawed, as others testing this have not been able to consistently reproduce the results, it is a funny anecdote to think that AI has learned how to simulate humans so perfectly that it also learned our laziness!

 

Continuing with the AI theme of this blog, I want to introduce you to some interesting tools for the holidays! Lets start off with the tools that will help you shop this year!

This blog was written to show the functional side of AI and to highlight the creativity of some of the tools that are being developed with AI.  After spending a few weeks intensely learning AI in an effort to help clients with their transition to AI...I learned something important. 

 

AI wont replace humans from their jobs, but those who don't use AI will be replaced by those who do. Imagine a delivery person when cars where first developed.  Cars didn't replace workers, they replaced the previous tool (the horse)...delivery drivers are still here.
